Applesauce Ryan F. Mrs. Bentley's 3rd Grade class brought apples to school to make applesauce. We got to try some. It was good. The class liked making applesauce. Mrs. Hrachovina Chelsea M. & Anna V. Mrs. Hrachovina is nice. She helps us when we are hurt. Mrs. H. goes outside with us and also does library with us. Mrs. Hrachovina orders lunch for us, too. Cursive Writing Reid V. & Clyve L. Cursive writing is fun. In third grade you have to write in cursive. We have handwriting books to help us. We improve our handwriting by practicing often. Now when we write we always use cursive. Name the Cow Mary R. & Jerry R. The cook at our school had a contest. The Arcadia classes had to pick a name for the cow that hangs in the lunchroom. Mrs. Catanese's 3rd class decided the name of the cow should be Milkshake. We won the contest. So the name of the cow is Milkshake. Computers Trent H. & Chad T. Computers are fun. We like to go in Kid Pix and Sammy Science. When we go into Kid Pix we like to make pictures. We like our computers. Birds Jake G. & Travis S. The birds in our birdfeeder look nice. Our class sees bluejays and morning doves. When winter comes these beautiful birds will be gone. When winter comes we might see cardinals. When hunters come we might see not them anymore. Flower Bulbs Andria R. & Ashley R. We have 2 flower bulbs, an amaryllis and a narcissus. We water them. Then the flowers will grow. When they grow we will have flowers. Recess Amanda B. We go to recess at school. We have it two times a day. We play soccer, tag, football, basketball, and hockey. There are games to play outside. We can also play on things like the Mackinac Bridge. Recess is fun. Painting Pumpkins Ashlee O. Mrs. Bentley's class painted pumpkins that Logan brought. It was fun. We picked out our own pumpkin. Then we painted faces on them in groups. Our pumpkin paintings are on the internet. It was very fun. Gym Class Kelsey A. We have gym class in Arcadia School. Mr. Thorr is our P.E. teacher. We play games and run a lot. Sometimes we go outside for gym. My favorite game is Minefield. There are lots of bombs. If you step on one, you have to go to the end of the line. Then it is the next person's turn. We like P.E. Shuttle Launch Jim K. We saw John Glenn go up into space. His shuttle went 3,660 m.p.h. Their mission was to study how older people react in space. It was interesting to watch the launch. They are back now. Buddy Reading Carmen H. & Mara B. Mrs. Catanese's 3rd grade class went to Onekama to read with "buddies" in Mrs. Brown's 4th grade class. We read to the them and they read to us for a half hour. Mrs. Furton's 2nd grade rode the bus to Onekama also to read with Mrs. Niederstadt's first grade. We had a lot of fun. Writing Stories Nichole B. & Andrew C. At school Mrs. Kahl's class writes stories. Sometimes we write math stories and sentences. On Halloween we wrote about witches. At school we have fun writing stories. Writers Workshop Zac G. & Brenna M. In second grade we write stories in Writers' Workshop. Before we write we brainstorm. Then we write the stories. Next we do a have-a-go sheet. On the have-a-go sheet, we write the words we don't know. Then we sound them out and write them down again. We take the sheet to Mrs. Furton and she helps us with our story. Soccer Brett J. We play soccer everyday during recess. We pick teams. You have to use your feet to move the ball and kick it into a goal net to score. I really like soccer. It is fun. Painting Pumpkins Taylor Block & Amber Fink We painted pumpkins in 3rd grade for Halloween. We used acrylic paints to paint the pumpkins. It is really messy. The pumpkins were big, small, tall, or fat. It was fun to paint pumpkins. You can try it, too. Playground Sarina A. & Luke F. On the Arcadia School playground there are swings and slides. We have tire swings and monkey bars. There are also tick-tack-toe boards and a jungle gym. GeoSafari Alyssa C. Mrs. Bentley's class has a GeoSafari in our classroom. There are about 20 games to play on it. We can play when we are done with our work. We learn a lot of different stuff. We have to answer questions to win!! Many kids play GeoSafari in our class. We like to play the bug game the most. GeoSafari is very fun. Computers Julie S. We go to computers everyday. We do math, write stories, and sometimes we get to play Treasure Cove. My teachers are Mrs. Zajac and Mrs. Cook. I love computers! Class Story Olivia B. & Donny O. We made a story in Mrs. Furton's class. The Hunting Dog is the name of the story. It is about a man that likes to go hunting but his dog barks too much. So he could not catch any food. Our class used an overhead projector and took turns adding to the story. Scarecrow Jackie K. & Courtney G. Our class made a scarecrow for a scarecrow contest. We named him Uncle Bob. We got third place and a white ribbon. Uncle Bob has long purple hair. His shirt is checkered and has O.H.S. on it. His head is made out of a tin can. We stuffed him with newspaper. He also has red and brown gloves. Uncle Bob is fat, too. Our class got 10 dollars in prize money. We don't know what to do with it. |
Art Class Logan G. Mrs. Bentley's 3rd Grade class has art on Wednesday. We made alien pictures. The aliens were cool. Ms. Woolman is our art teacher. Art is fun! Scarecrow Jim Justin Z. Mrs. Bentley's class made Scarecrow Jim this fall. We divided up into groups. We put Scarecrow Jim in the scarecrow contest. He came in second place. We like Scarecrow Jim. He was fun to make. Reading Buddies Danielle P. & Aaron F. In Mrs. Furton's 2nd Grade class we have reading buddies. Every other Friday we read with Mrs. N's First Grade in Onekama. We grab a partner and let them read to us. Next we read a book to them. Then we pick another book. Buddy reading is fun. Scarecrow Erin B. & Ryan C. We won a great award at the scarecrow contest! Everyone had a partner to make the scarecrow. We put a post behind the scarecrow. He is in the lunchroom. He is sitting on a chair by the garbage. Kids at Recess Sarah E. & Brittany H. There are a lot of kids at recess in Arcadia. Many kids play tag. Some of the girls and boys play soccer. There are a lot of things on the playground to play on like swings. It is fun to have a tire swing. There is a basketball court and three slides. We have two recesses everyday. The Tadpole Drew G. & Cassandra B. In Mrs. Furton's 2nd Grade room we have a see through tadpole. We feed it often. It is growing. It can swim. Soon the tadpole will grow legs. Then it will be a frog. Mike Bloomfield Michael S. Mike Bloomfeild is an astronaut that came to Onekama School. He told us how his first flight to space was. Mike Bloomfeild showed us a slide show of space. He went 2.2 million miles into space. We liked Mike's visit to our school. Art Max S. We make interesting projects in art. My favorite thing is making calenders. Our 3rd grade class had to draw March pictures for our school calender. It was very fun. I like doing projects together. Halloween Party Artisha R. We had a Halloween party on Friday. Our class had snacks. All of the kids dressed up. We paraded through all the classrooms. I had fun at our Halloween party. Parent Helpers Paige R. & Ryan M. Mrs. Furton's class reads with parent helpers once a week. Mrs. Bolthouse is one of our helpers who likes to read with us. When we read and read we get better at reading. P.E. Jamie H. Mrs. Catanese's class has P.E. on Monday. We play games like Boulderdash. It is just like a game of tag. When it is nice outside we go outside and play kickball. It is very fun. Our P.E. teacher is Mr. Thorr. Scholar Dollars Mallory M. & Derek R. In 2nd grade we get scholar dollars for following class rules. We have an auction to buy stuff like pencils, erasers, and note pads. We do an auction every month. Riding the Bus David F. We ride the bus from Onekama to Arcadia. The bus rules are sit down, be quiet, don't eat or drink, and throw things. The bus driver might pull the bus over, if you don't follow the rules the first time. Then it would take along time to the get to school. It is 10 miles to Arcadia School. I like to go to school on the bus. I hope you do! Be safe! Postcards Sammy S. & Jackie F. We have 28 postcards from friends now. We are hoping to get 100 postcards. We get one postcard a day. Some look like fish. We also got a Disney World postcard. Animals Zach Y. & David E. We are studying animals in Science. Everyone got to pick an animal to study. Zach chose frogs and David chose whales. In the computer lab we went on the internet to find more information. Most of us found some. We had fun doing animals. Slinky Apples Sara Mathieu We have slinky apples sometimes. Mrs. Bentley calls up two people at a time. She has a little apple machine that peals, slices and cores. After we're done we get to eat them. The apples taste good. Homework Sheets Courtney S. & Kelsey H. In 2nd grade we have homework sheets. At the end of the day we copy down our homework on sheets. Then we bring our homework sheets home. When we are done with our homework, our parents sign our sheets. The next day we bring them back to school. Our teacher, Mrs. Furton, stamps them if they have them signed. When we have enough stamps we may get a pencil, eraser, or tootsie rolls. Art Projects Nathan H. & George G. We make art projects. We made penguins, pigs, and pumpkins. We also made witches for Halloween. We like making art projects. P.E. Jovanny G. I like gym class. My favorite game is Kill the King. It is fun to play. We have P.E. with Mr. Thorr once a week. Library Robert L. We have library once a week on Tuesday. Our librarian is Mrs. Hrachovina. She reads to us sometimes. We also choose books to take home. We like having library at Arcadia School.
