| "Gong Xi Fa Cai" (Kung hsi fa tsai) means "Have a good year!" or "Happy New Year!" On January 28th, we celebrated Chinese New Year. Our room was swept clean. A red banner was hung above our doorway. We had a special treat of apples and oranges. Red means good luck and orange means good fortune. A giant dragon was painted by the students. Dragons are believed to keep away bad spirits. Everyone tried to think good thoughts and speak kind words. It was a celebration enjoyed by all. |
