On Thursday, November 18, 1999, I went to Food Pantry. Along with me went Marlee, Travis, Julie and T.J. We organized food on two different tables. There was a lot of food too. Then Ms. Chris came to pick us up. Food pantry was a great experience. ...Katherine

There was a lot of food and we had to sort it. The food pantry was at the St. Joseph Church in Onekama. The food is for the less fortunate. A lot of schools collect food from the kids and give it to food pantry. Also there is a big truck that comes and brings big boxes and bags of food. But we had to leave before the big truck came. Tomorrow the sixth grade comes and helps the people get their food. I think it is really good we have a food pantry. I wish I could help more. ...Marlee

Volunteering at the Food Pantry

Food Pantry

Julie and Mrs. Van have been busy learning and enjoying their work at the food pantry. It is a wonderful opportunity for Julie to learn life skills that may help her as an adult to become part of the work force in our community. She will be attending once a month with a different group of 5th graders. This gives Julie and her classmates an opportunity to work with each other as well as members of the community. The group of volunteers providing the food pantry has been absolutely wonderful and welcomes these children with open arms. It truly is a wonderful service to people in need as well as the students and the community. ..Mrs. Van

When we got to the food pantry we organized the food. We got some bags. First we put the big bags in a pile and the we put the little bags in one pile and the really big bags we put in a box. It was pretty fun and if they asked me to go again, I would say Yes! ...Jordan
