In Wisconsin we visited the U.S.S. Cobia at the Manitowoc Maritime Museum.

"So far on the Badger it has been really fun!! We went to the Maritime Museum and toured a real submarine." ...Nicholas

Be careful Nick, the submarine doors are pretty small.

The tour guide explained that the Cobia was launched in 1943 and served in the Pacific Ocean. She sank 13 Japanese vessels. In 1970 the Cobia was brought to the Manitowoc Maritime Museum as a memorial.

"I liked going down inside the submarine and all the stuff inside. I liked the museum too." ...Nathan G

"One thing I really liked about the Badger trip was going in a real World II submarine and getting a tour of it. Only one person was killed on the Cobia. It sank a lot of enemy ships. It was awesome!" ...Ryan K

Jake seems impressed with all the levers and dials. Everyone blocked their ears when the tour guide sounded the submarine alarm. It was amazing how many men could live on the Cobia.

"As we crowded back on the bus it was hard not to think of our submarine tour in Wisconsin. Imagine, almost 100 men cramped into an area of usable space that seemed even smaller than our bus. A space filled with a mix of human sweat, diesel fuel, bad army chow and other smells without earthly origin. Perhaps we cannot fully appreciate the relative serenity of the fifth grade bus ride back to the Badger" ...Meghan's Dad
