Yes, we are making Strawberry Shortcake!

What a beautiful sight. We were baking the shortcake during library time mind you, and math time, and reading time, too. Erin Brown said it was the best library ever.

Mrs. Hrachovina, our librarian, got the idea from the book Cook-a-Doodle-Doo by Janet Stevens.

We had a little excitement before vacation: a grand celebration to end "March is Reading Month" and "Following Direction Week". What fun it was!

It was fun making baking hats.

They were part of our "March is Reading Month" grand celebration.

Making shortcake took much longer than planned, and Mrs. Catanese told her students they had missed their math class. Zac Gilbert said, "But, we had to measure, two cups of flour, and two tablespoons of sugar, and one tablespoon of baking powder and half a teaspoon of salt, and add it up". His team did well too, for it was the nicest cake to be seen.

We had to sift the flour so there were not lumps.
