Digital Blue

Today, we used Digital Blue for the first time. Digital Blue is a computer microscope. Students can capture and manipulate images using special effects to enhance a scientific presentation. We took snapshots of specimens and created a slide show. Objects can be magnified by 10X, 60X and even 200X. Students can view these objects on their laptops. Small groups worked together to create a slide show and we shared our success as a class.

Karl - In Science class today we used microscopes that a compatible with our laptops so we can see what we are looking at on our computers. The assignment today was to make a slide show. For a slide show you could take a snapshot of what you are looking at and make a mini movie of the slide. Our class used groups of three for this project. My group used pencil shavings, dust, tinfoil , feathers, and lip gloss. The lip gloss looked like tar at a power of 200X. The microscope has powers of 10X, 60X and 200x.

Lauren - Today in science class we got to use our Digital Blue Microscopes with our laptops. My group was Nolan, Jordan and myself. We had fun experimenting with different objects to magnify under the microscope. We made a slide show after we took pictures of what we put under the microscope. Our slide show was really good. We had water bubbles, a sponge, pencil shavings, eraser shavings, a tissue, and lots of other things too. They all looked really cool under the microscope.

Mary - On Thursday we actually got to do a slide show on Digital Blue. My partners in the group were Mike and Ricky. Ricky liked to take the pictures and Mike liked to be the scavenger to find things to put under the microscope. In our slide show we had shrimp eggs, some fish water and a lot of other neat things. I really like using Digital Blue. It is a really cool program to use.

Nathan - Today in Science we worked on a program called Digital Blue. It involves a microscope that is electronically hooked up to my laptop. A disc is put in the laptop to run the program. We can make movies or take snapshots. You can even color the snapshots you take. Today we made a slide show with our group. We looked at crystals under the microscope and saw a picture on my laptop.

Alex B. - Digital Blue was very fun and interesting. I loved working in my group to make a slide show. We took pictures of our eyeballs. You can take the microscope off the stage and hold it up to an object. It was fun going to different groups and watching their slide show. We saw a picture of Tommy's scab. That was cool.

Taylor - Today in Science class we used a program on our computers called Digital Blue. This program is really fun because it contains a microscope that you can take pictures and videos with and they will show up on your screen. In class we were supposed to make a slide show of our pictures and our videos. I was in a group with Ryan and Ashley. When we made our slide show, we put our eyes in it and fingers, teeth, ears and throat. We also took pictures of my earrings, a piece of lead, dirty water, fish food and my hair tie. Then Mrs. Warman let us watch other people's shows. The other shows were really cool too. I am glad we had a chance to do this?

Jake B. - Today, for science class we got to use the Digital Blue microscopes. We used our laptops to make a somewhat, strange slide show. Some items we viewed were my eye, Duane's ear, a small amount of water from the aquarium, water from the sink and the eyedropper that came from the microscope kit. For background music we used the rock-mix for our show. Some of the other slide shows were also interesting. One slide show we saw used only human body parts for their slides
