WOCS invited to attend the AT&T/MACUL Technology Showcase in Lansing, Michigan.

Four students represented Onekama Middle School at the State Capital Building on October 9, 2001. Onekama News Live was invited to demonstrate how they produce a news program for Onekama Middle School.

WOCS Live is a middle school broadcasting class that uses hands-on service-learning projects to assist students in the exploration of the ARTS/COMMUNICATION pathway. Students are empowered to research, write and present live coverage and interviews of current events in the middle school. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday students present the local announcements, weather, sports and special events from our school.

Chelsee Bromley, Kayla Bates, Dani Olson and Kayla Peabody traveled to Lansing with Mrs. Warman and Mr. Peabody to talk to legislatures, business leaders and guests about how they are using technology in the classroom to enhance classroom learning. We were among the 100 schools throughout Michigan participating in this day-long event. Our students had the opportunity to meet students from other schools across Michigan and participate in other classroom demonstrations of technology.
