Onekama News Live

Experience the Communications Pathway with a behind the scenes look at the "WOCS NEWS LIVE" broadcast production.

Onekama News Live is an exploratory class offered to 6th, 7th and 8th grade daily for 40 minutes a day. Click here to learn about Technology Showcase

The news team produces a live broadcast every Monday, Wednesday and Friday that is viewed throughout school classrooms, the media center and hallway monitors.

Students report on the local weather, school events, historical trivia, middle school sports, "random acts of kindness," announcements from teachers and the office and a mystery photo.

The news team will review the script for the day. There are always last-minute additions to the announcements. Students learn to be flexible and to adapt to changes regularly.

The middle school news team uses the distance learning lab to produce the news for Onekama News Live. The students transmit their live coverage from a distance learning studio filled with cameras, microphones, computers and a variety of TV observation monitors.

Mrs. Warman produces Onekama News Live with the help of some dedicated students. "The technology we have available in this school district allows us to promote a true sense of camaraderie among our students and staff. Teachers use the news broadcast to congratulate and promote student success, and students feel a sense of pride in their ability to bring this information to all members within the school."-Mrs. Warman

Clint and Nate are the news anchors today.
