Guest Speaker Demonstrates Skills Needed to Create House
Plans
Jesse Warman was the guest
speaker for Onekama Middle School math classes. He
demonstrated his role as a draftsman for the office of
Caleb P. Luibrand Architect, PC.
Michele Warman, math teacher
at Onekama Middle School, assisted Jesse as he showed
the classes a set of floor plans and demonstrated how
drafting by hand generates blue prints.
Jesse passed out several
adjustable triangles and demonstrated how to use them to
make a scale drawing of a simple floor plan. Students
participated in an exercise to design a simple beam with
uniform load. Groups worked together to design a beam
and see how math is applied in the real world. Jesse
helped students to examine what is involved in creating
a home and how important accurate math calculations are
to be successful as an architect. |
