Several Onekama girls attended the Detroit Shock Basketball Clinic

I learned how to pass the ball the right way, the bounce pass.  I also learned how to dribble with my left hand.  We had to dribble the ball sitting down and then getting up.  My favorite was when we were with Deanna Nolin and she put us into groups.  The groups had a contest and whoever got the goal she told us to get would win.  At the end we played lightening and had to shoot against different players.  At the end of the day we watched the Shock play against the San Antonio Silver Stars.  It was fun and the Detroit Shock won! ~McKayla, grade 4

Michele   It was fun when we had to bounce a little ball and you had to try to get it before it went out of bounds.  I learned how to rip.  Rip is when you rebound the ball and you move to not let the ball get taken away from you.  My favorite part was when I got my picture with Zap.  He is the mascot.  I liked when I saw the tallest Shock girl shot the basket, and she got fouled.  I hope that I can do it again.

I think that the Shock Clinic was the best thing ever. We all learned so many things. At the beginning of the game we got to make a tunnel for the Shock team. It was so much fun. After the game we got autographs. I bought a basketball for them to sign. The coaches and all of the team members got to sign it. It was so much fun. The ending score was 62 to 55. The Shock won. I was so happy. We got to work with 2 people. One was Taj. Taj helped and told us how to pass correctly. Then we went to a girl named Deana. We got to call her tweety. She was really cool. She taught us so many things. She taught us how to shoot correctly and how to dribble sitting down and laying down without giving up your dribble. It was so much fun. Tweety "Deana" couldn't play because she had an injury on her arm. I learned so many things at the Shock Clinic. I want to go next year too. ~Ashley K.
