Mrs. Blevins math students went on a very cool field trip to Federal Mogul's North American Tech Center in Plymouth, MI

The students in her FST class and juniors in her Geometry class were invited to go.

The Federal Mogul facility that we toured employs over 140 engineers and technicians and they design and test pistons, rings, head gaskets and other powertrain components.  The engineers there were very excited to have our group visit, because they have not had a high school class visit their facility before.  (One of my college roommates who is a metallurgical engineer works there and I set this up with her.)  The students were able to meet with several engineers in the areas of testing, materials, engine testing, and design.  It was really neat to see the future of engine components!  And explore some of the careers in math and engineering.  Then we went to the Ford F-150 Rouge Plant Tour through the Henry Ford Museum.  There the students and chaperones we able to see the new Ford F-150's travel through the plant in various stages of  completeness----and then see the finished product at the end.  They were producing 1 truck per minute!!!  All in all it was a great day for all of us!  Hopefully we will get to go back again next year.  ~Mrs. Laurie Blevins
