Miss Turk's Class has written about their "Sixth Grade Year So Far"

So far sixth grade is very easy. I like it a lot better than fifth grade. The day seems to go a lot faster when we have a lot to do every hour. It's not really that scary at all, so I'm a bit surprised. I thought it was going to be a lot harder too, but it really isn't that hard. Truthfully, I don't think we get that much homework. It's more than fifth grade, but we never really had homework in the fifth grade, so I maybe I was just concerned for nothing
Of course, this IS only the first marking period. It could change at any time. We could suddenly get five pounds of homework from each class! That's probably not going to happen though. So I don't think I'll have to worry too much about it. Well it's still a thought...Oh well! Better just worry about what's happening right now! Thank you for reading and have a good extra-long weekend!

School has been wonderful this year. Everyday is a new adventure. All of my teachers are great and the food in the cafeteria is unbeatable. We have easy homework and have fun everyday. I hang out with y friends and do cool stuff. Our class went to a cool place called plcbc. We played games and did activities. I got to climb a wall. This year is one of the best. But it is a lot different from Elementary school.

 Dear Mrs. Eldridge
Sixth grade is pretty good but there are a couple bad things about it. First I thought that I was going to be in Spanish all year but then I was told that I had to go to reading class instead of Spanish at the middle of the year. Also the school council has decided to demolish a part of the school. Besides that school is great.

So far in the 6th grade I like the classes. I have 7 periods. This is my second marking period schedule.
1st- English- Turk
2nd- gym- hunter
3rd- science- Warman
4th- computers- Zadow
5th- math- Warman
6th- reading- Turk
7th- geography
In 6th grade it is funner than you think. I LOVE 6TH GRADE!!!!!!

I think that this year has been a good year so far. For one thing, I'm getting along with people, unlike two years before this. That's a good thing to be able to do, because everyone will hate you if you can't, and then you won't have any friends, (hello lonely lunch table.) Another reason it's a good year for me is that I have A's in every subject, even gym! My easiest subject is band, all you have to do to get an A is behave in class and practice for at least an hour every week. Besides band, (which is really an elective) I think my easiest class is Reading. I enjoy reading, but I know that a lot of people don't, so I feel sorry for them because reading is what the whole class is based on. Anyways, I feel like I'm doing pretty well academically and OK socially, so I think that this is going to be a great year!
~Claire Harvey

So far, 6th grade has been pretty easy. There has been a lot of changes coming from elementary to middle school, such as going from class to class in 3 minutes, having so many more books, no desk at all, you class rooms aren't right next to or across from each other, ad the biggest change of all is not having recess! I used to hate recess but now I really miss having it, last week we were doing projects for reading and we had to go outside down the hill for one that really made me realize that I missed running up and down it during recess. I love the fact that we get locks on our lockers because last year a lot of things got stolen from people and now they can only steal from you if you have gave them your combination. I don't like when the bell rings and you need to get books out of your locker and it won't open because you can't get the combination right! The gym lockers are awesome because last year I remember forgetting clothes for gym and having to run around in sweat the rest of the day [disgusting]. I like having more than 3 teachers for everything, now I have Ms. Turk, Mrs. Ramsey, Mr. Hunter, Mrs. Warman, and or fourth hour teacher which changes every marking period. My grades are very good this year. I got all A's the first marking period. Basketball's started and it's a lot of fun [like last year], and our team has improved a lot which is great. Last year we only won 2 games [one being a scrimmage] and we won our first two games! There is a lot more  I could write about but I think I have a lot here. So far 6th grade is easier than I thought.
~Haley Maser

This year my classmates and I have entered the sixth grade. I thought it would be really hard for school work or just to get to classes on time, but it's not that hard.
So far I love the sixth grade. I mean sure we have a lot more homework and the teachers are stricter but it is so fun. It's fun because in the first marking period I learned part of a new language (Spanish), and I learned how to work with computers a lot better. I like the way my schedule is arranged 1st hour English, 2nd hour P.E., 3rd hour Science, 4th hour Computers (I had this class the first marking period), Lunch, 5th hour Math, 6th hour Spanish, and 7th hour Geography. I also like how we have P.E. second period because right after second period we have Seminar. So we could even take a shower if we wanted (wearing a bathing suit of course). I've learned so much in just the first marking period. Seriously if I was still in the fifth grade and they asked me to do some of the sixth grade math problems, I probably get them wrong.
My favorite classes in order from greatest to least are Computers, Spanish, English, Math, Geography, Science, and P.E. The only reason I don't like P.E.  is because some of the things we do are really hard and you get bad grades if you can't do it right. I love middle school because it is cooler than elementary. Sixth grade rocks!

~Brittany Trombley

So far this year has been o.k., but I have been having a problem with my grades in math. I mean Mrs. Brown was an awesome teacher. I mean don't get me wrong I like Mrs. Warmen but Mrs. Brown didn't give us homework every single night.
Lockers, one of the things that I have used since 4th grade. The locks that we put on our lockers were very hard for us-I mean me and my friend Emily. Although I am getting the hang of it because I toke it home to learn how to do it and know how to do it. Know I'm good at it.
Although it has been fun I think my favorite class would have to be science or band. A lot of kids thought that band was terrible but it's not it's great. I have been practicing on my trumpet and  so far my favorite song is called 'Monster Rock'. The bad thing is that we sound terrible al because one of the people who played the drums quit al because he wanted to do wood shop.
Science on the other hand is great. Even though I am getting a b in it it's still great and because science has been my favorite class since 1st grade. I just wish we could do some experiments like we did last yea with Mr. Neph.
Over all though I think that the 6th grade might be hard but I think that all of the 6th graders will be able to conquer it this year.

Middle School
This year in middle it is easy/hard so far, but I like the teachers. I think at times we get loaded with homework, but I still like this school. I don’t like the high schoolers. they pick on me because I walk on my toes but then they are ok. I like middle school because nobody cares on like what you wear anymore because they just don’t so that helps. These year we all have different friends and it is cool because they used to hate you now there your friend. Well that is what I think about that my grades are fine, but I think I could do better. I love Middle school!!
~ Brittany Humes

My sixth grade year so far has been fun but a little hard.  My favorite subjects are Math, Geography, and Band.  It's kind of hard because if your locker doesn't open you might be late for class.  Also if you don't get your homework done, you get a zero for the grade.
When you are trying to get from class to class it's kind of hard because the hallways are very crowded, and my locker is all the way at the end of the hallway.  I thought three minutes in between classes was going to be very hard to make it to class, but so far I haven't been tardy once.  It turns out it is very easy.
Now that I'm in middle school it has been a whole lot easier than what I expected.  You just have to stay organized and you will probably get through it.  Gym is a lot different too.  I thought it was going to be horrible, because I'm very not athletic, but it turns out I'm getting a very good grade in it.
It seems like in the beginning of the year I was never going to make it through sixth grade.  Now it's like a daily schedule.  It's gone by so quickly; I mean it's already the end of the first marking period.  Pretty soon it will be the end of the second marking period, and I will be switching from Spanish to Reading.  I hope I get adjusted to that like I got adjusted to sixth grade.

~Lauren Merriman

This year so far has been great! The worst grade I'm getting is a C. That grade is in math and I not very good in math. But other than that I'm doing good. My favorite teacher is Mrs. Ramsey, and I don't have a favorite subject. The class I don't like is Spanish it’s boring! On the plus side both my gym and my regular locker have easy combs to remember and I share a locker with one of my good friends.
Our 6th grade girls basketball team has been doing very well so far we have one 2/2 games and we have one tonight. I'm #20. All the girls on the basketball team are: Haley Maser, Kaitlin Kubisky, Claire Harvey, Alexis ?, Kayla ?, Courtney Danks, Faith Mordyke, Sierra Warner, Sami T. and me. We have two 5th graders on our team and they are really cool and nice. Our coaches are Rob Jhonson and Shelly Kubisky-Beck. So that is going good so far. Also for basket ball I'm "manger/assistant" on the JV/V team.
So, so far we I have had a great year and I'm having fun, and have a lot of friends.

The school year so far has been great and it fun because my teachers that I have are really nice. My favorite subject so far is science and math. My grades are good but not the best but I am working on them. Gym is another favorite class of mine that I like a lot because we get to play cool games like volleyball and basketball. I also like Ms. Turk class for English and we get to do cool things like doing All the Right Type. Spanish is not my favorite class because we never do any thing that is I can relate to. Geography is one of the classes that I like because we do lot of things that keep us busy and that is why I like that class. This quarter of the school is great because we do fun things.
~John Schoedel

So far sixth grade has been pretty easy, I have either an A or B+ in all my classes.  I think math and geography are the hardest classes for me.
The best thing about sixth grade is the locks with locks on them, I like the locks because some people like to steel.  I think that the haul ways are to skinny because there’s always a traffic jam in the haul ways and some times I'm late for classes.  I also like how we can eat from  ala cart every day, when we were in Elementary we could only eat from there on Friday's. I like the teachers in sixth grade too.  I guess you could say I like sixth grade Period!!!

~Logan Fogarty

Well school the first  marking period was okay you could say. Other than homework every night it was pretty good. Um the teachers yea well the teachers are okay. I think my favorite teacher would have to be Mrs. Ramsey. I do like walking down the high school. I am not on the student council, but that's okay. All my classes are great, but I don't really like Spanish. I have lots of books to carry around in my backpack. Everything is just so different. I am doing really good in all my classes. The hardest part of the day is trying to get up the stairs for Spanish because you can't run or you will fall backwards. The first marking period was great. I am getting used to all my classes. I have a few new teachers, well all but Mrs. Ramsey. I had her last year. I like being a sixth grader and I have waited to be one for a long time. Also we are in middle school we have to act like we are sixth graders. Now comes the second marking period and it's going to get harder and harder. At first I thought it was going to be hard but it's easy. I like being a sixth grader.
~Cady Lowe

So far sixth grade is going great, the really hard part is opening my gym lock some times it takes me five times to get it open. My regular locker is just fine, to be able to go to my locker and go to class I set my lock to where I just have to turn it to the last number. The so many different classes with the switching it seems like the day is going to go by faster. It is way different from the Elementary. This year I get to be part of the J.V/Varsity girl’s basketball it's really cool. This year I got to be in sop class it was fun. The only class that I don't really like is Spanish I only like it because it's a really easy A. The classes are really easy. On my progress reports I am getting an A overall for all of them. My favorite class overall is science class it's also really easy. So far that’s mostly about the 6th grade.
~Kaitlin Kubiskey

Sixth grade so far has been fine for the most part. I don't really like my classes though. Study Skills I thought was going to be boring. Now that I have seen what it was like for the first week, it has pretty good actually. We already had a project about what a good student is like and what their characteristics are. That was an OK project.
The marking period is finally over. This means a new class and new grades to look forward to I guess. Well I'm looking forward to the new marking period and I hope it will be better than the first!

This year 6th grade has been fun! I have gotten used to the way it works in middle school. I get here and get ready for first hour. First hour is English. After that the bell rings. Then I have three minutes to get ready for second hour. Second hour is P.E. After that bell rings I go to third hour and then it goes on until three o clock.
~Daniel Kinn

This marking period has been good so far like some classes like math and P.E. and English. I thought it would have been a lot worse, but it turned out to be better than I thought it would be. Like P.E. at first I thought it would be torture but then it turned out to be a lot easier than I thought. We got to play flag football, speed ball, and volley ball next we are going to play basket ball. The same goes for the lock on the locker it was hard enough remembering the combination for one lock and knowing how to open it, but then the next day we got another lock and locker numbers to remember, but now I am doing well with that. That is what this marking period has been like so far. ~Natasha Vasquez

This first marking period has been well ok I guess. At first on the first day of school 6th grade it was hared. It was hared getting to all our classes on time and getting and  getting your locker open. Any ways I really don’t have any thing to really say I mean now 6th grade is easy and I kind of like it a little. Just to say it was a really big change from boring 5th grade. Oh yeah this year we have PE every day and that was one of my favorite subjects in 5th grade.  Lets see walking through the hallway its not so bad  the high scholars  do there what the want and they don’t bother you that much ant least they don’t bother me anyways. Well I used to be scare to even know that we had to walk with the high school hallway. That’s basically what I think or 6th grade and I don’t like homework every night but I get it any ways.   ~Mikelle Lonsbury
