Practice Routine

Students who own guitars must practice daily.

Students with school owned guitars will be sharing until there are enough for everyone.  These school owned guitars must stay at school.  There will be a practice time every Thursday in the Band Room from 12:00 – 12:24.  This is during the Middle School lunch hour.  I will be monitoring all Thursday practice sessions. If you can find times on Tuesdays or Thursdays during the school day, please request times to practice from your other teachers  and will try to coordinate additional practice times.  I’m thinking during your seminar periods???

Instrument Storage

If there is a case for your guitar, you must store it in the case.  If there is no case, please handle the guitar with extreme care.  All guitars will be stored in the piano lab.  Guitars must be placed in an orderly fashion under your name or the guitar name.

Students not placing guitars in an orderly fashion will have their grade lowered one whole grade.  (Example.  If you have a 76% or a C or grade will be lowered to a 66% or a D.)

Instrument Pick-up and Drop-off

The piano lab will be opened from 7:55 – 8:10 for guitar drop-off.  Following class on Tuesdays and Thursday you may lock your guitar in the lab or take it home with you to practice.

Use of School-Owned Guitars

If you are using a school-owned guitar you will be sharing the guitar among your pod. Each pod will be assigned a guitar. When there are enough guitars for everyone, then you will be assigned a guitar for each class session.   Students who own guitars are strongly urged not to share their guitar with other students.  Practice times  on school owned guitars are each Thursday, 12:00 – 12:24.

Handouts and Music

Each student has their own storage compartment for music and other handouts in the music band room.  You may store your music in your compartment or keep it with you.

If  you questions regarding these policies please ask.
