The young Portager's are now 6 & 0 for the season as they post another big "Shut Out" win (22-0) over the Manistee Gold team. For the third straight week, the explosive Onekama offense was silenced during the first two quarters and the half ended 0-0. Unlike the last two games when this happened, this time the coaches applauded the play of the team both offensively and defensively and the well conditioned Portager's answered that calling by truly outplaying a tough Chippewa team... leaving at least one Manistee parent asking "what are you feeding those boys up there"!

The first score in the second half came quickly after a strong defense stance lead by Michael Ennis patrolling the outside and Jacob Morales sealing anything up the middle forced another Manistee turnover. Behind the new charged up offense line, Quinn Matthews took the quick pitch and scampered 24 yds for a TD and Morales added the conversion to put the Portager's on the scoreboard. With a running clock, the 3rd QTR came to an end quickly with the score of 8-0. On the first play in the 4th QTR, Matthews once again took the hand off from Bryce Reckow and scored his second TD on a 15 yd run up the middle and Morales added the conversion. At that point the Portager's literally took over control of the game and took any wind out of the sail that the Gold team may have had. After some strong hitting that forced a few Manistee players out of the game (nothing serious) the final score came by Morales when we scooted 44 yds behind the solid blocking from Chris Gale, Brandon Bohannon,
Josh Santa, Levi Mattison, Derek Hobart, Bryson Waller, Josh Jacobs and John Curtin, who also handled the snapping duties for the day.

Last game of the season will be played at home on Tuesday 10/17 at 5:00 against the Brethren Bobcats... followed by a Pizza Party for the team!
