Harriet Tubman report

Who was the most famous “conductor” on the Underground Railroad? That was Harriet Tubman. She rescued at least 300 people from slavery in the 1850s.

Harriet Tubman

Harriet was born in 1848 in Maryland. She started working as a maid when she was only five years old. Then when she was twelve she worked in the fields in the plantation in Maryland. When she was twelve she asked her master to marry a free man named John Tubman.

She escaped slavery in 1849 and traveled north. Then she helped free slaves in the north. She is one of the bravest individual I know. I wish I could meet her.

Before the war she guided slaves to the north and went to war.  During the war she served as a nurse and spy and a scout for the army. Then she worked for the rights of black women. She helped a lot of people out in the war.

Harriet Tubman died in 1914.Shhe was 93 years old. She was a slave and helped other people be free. She was a great leader and helped others so much. I thought she was a great leader. I wish that I lived back in her time so I could meet her.
