Garrett Morgan

Garrett Morgan was a man that was born in Paris, Kentucky. Though he was born March 4, 1877 in poverty. He grew up on a farm  with his family. He had 11 brothers and sisters.

Growing up he worked on the farm. He also went to school. Most of his teenage years he worked as a handyman for a wealthy Cincinnati landowner. He had to quit school at a young age because he had to work.  When he was a teenager he was able to hire a tutor to keep on studying .When he was a teenager he was also  inspired by Lewis Latimer.

He grew up to be an inventor. He was the man that first invented the gas mask and it protected the soldiers in World War l. He also invented the traffic light. He built the sewing machine too. After that he built a sewing machine repair shop. The things he built would help us a lot later on in the future.

Garrett Morgan died in 1963. He live to be 86 year old. Hopefully he lived 86 good years. Because of the things he invented we are a little bit safer. Garrett Morgan was a good person.
