Condoleezza Rice was born on November 14, 1954 in Birmingham, Alabama. For the first term of President George W. Bush’s presidency she was an American professor and government official who served as a National Security Adviser. In his second term she is a Secretary of State. She became the first African American woman that held the position of Secretary of State.

When she was growing up she lived in Birmingham Alabama, but when she was a teenager she and her family moved to Denver, Colorado. At the age of 15 she started to go to the University of Denver. She was an only child of a Presbyterian minister, and a teacher. She grew up in the south were there was racism. She was the first African American woman to become a Stanford provost. She was a Stanford Provost for six years.

Condoleezza Rice wrote a book called The Soviet Union and the Czechoslovak Army, 1948-1983: Uncertain Allegiance. She was also the co-author of two other books, the books titles are: Gorbachev Era and Germany Unified and Europe Transformed: A Study in Statecraft. When she graduated in 1974 she got a Bachelors degree. In 1975 she received a master’s degree from the university of Notre Dame. She then got a doctoral degree in 1981 from the graduate school of International Studies at the University of Denver. In the same year she became an assistant professor of political science at Stanford University.

Condoleezza Rice is still alive today, and she is now 53 years old. In 1986 she started working on her job for the special assistant to the director of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and then she started to work as a military advisory group to the President of the United States, and the Secretary of Defense. She became the director of the Soviet and East European Affairs for the National Security Council in the administration of  President George Herbert Walker Bush in 1989. In 1991 she returned to Stanford University, next she became provost of Stanford in 1993. She is currently the Secretary of State for the United States.
