a beautiful late Wednesday afternoon the Brethren Bobcats
traveled over to Portager Field to take on the undefeated
Onekama/Bear Lake football team. In the 1st quarter with
1:24 to go Dan Gillespie on a quarterback keeper
scampered around the left side and ran 23 yards for a
touchdown. The 2 point conversion was no good. Then with
a 1:00 left in the 1st quarter Jake Matthews intercepted
a Bobcat pass and ran it back 32 yards for a touchdown
the 2 point conversion was no good. and at the half the
Portagers led 12-0 as neither team could score in the 2nd
or 3rd quarter. |
Then
with 2:46 to go in the game, Dan again on quarterback
keeper ran the ball from 5 yards out for a Touchdown and
then threw a completed pass to Joe Kosboski for the 2
point conversion. The Portagers were ahead 20-0 and then
Jordon Zupin recovered a Bobcat fumble and the Portagers
were able to run out the clock and win by the score of
20-0. Portagers are now 5-0 on the season with one game
