October Days

On a cool and cloudy October afternoon the Sabers from MCC came to OHS football field to take on our young OHS/BL squad.

In the 1st quarter with 2:37 left to go BL Zach Teachout ran the ball in from 1 yard out to give OHS a 6-0 lead. Unfortunately, the extra point try was no good.

With 6:26 left in the 2nd quarter MCC scored. Their extra point try was no good to make the score 6-6. With 5:32 to go in the 2nd quarter Zach Teachout scampered 43 yards for a Touchdown and 2-point conversion, giving the Portagers a 14-6 lead. Zach Teachout ran 30 yards for another score, but the 2 point conversion failed. This gave the Portagers a 20-6 lead. Then just before halftime Zach threw a 30-yard pass play to Chase Callaway who made a great catch to give the Portagers a 26-6 halftime lead.

MCC came back and scored with 1:47 left in the third quarter and 2-point conversion good. This cut the lead to 26-14.

Then with 7:46 to play in the 4th quarter Zach bolted 62 yards for a score and 2-point conversion to give the Portagers a 34-14 lead. MCC came back and scored and added the 2 point conversion to cut the lead to 34-22. With 1:17 to go, Zach ran 22 yards for a TD to seal the win for the Portagers.

They won by a score of 40- 22 over the Sabers from MCC. After shaking hands the young Portagers ran over and rang the Victory Bell, and the music from the bell sounded sweet.

Thanks to Dave Nesburg for being the play by play announcer and to Patty Callaway for taking the pictures for the Web tonight.
