12/15 Baldwin Away 5:00 On the 12/15/04 the 7th grade got to play their first game of the season as they traveled to Baldwin to take on the Panthers. It was a close and exciting game, but the Portagers fell a little short and lost by a score of 20-17. Leading the way for the young Portagers was Chase Callaway with 8 points, Thomas Koon 4, Danny Brown and Jake Matthews each had 2, and Gus Lagerquist 1.

1/12 Brethren Away 5:00 cancelled due to the weather
1/17 MCE Away 5:00 The 7th grade finally got back in to action as they went to MCE to take on the Cardinals. But the Young Portagers came out on the short end and lost by a score of 16-37. Scoring was like this for the MCE game last night Gus Lagerquist 7 points, Thomas Koon 4, Jake Matthews 3 and Chase Callaway 2 points. Photographs
1/19 Baldwin at Onekama Cancelled due to the weather
1/22 At Brethren On Saturday 1/22/05 the 7th graders traveled to Brethren where instead of just playing Brethren they also had Baldwin, MCC and Onekama there which they did was play one 10 minute quarter with a running clock and that was the game they played in the old gym while the 8th graders were doing the same in the new gym

The first opponent for the 7th grade was Brethren which they lost to. Then MCC and lost, then Baldwin which they won by score of 10-2 as Danny Brown sank a 3 pointer. They lost to Brethren again. They lost to MCC by score of 10-9 in a close game with Jordon Zupin making 2 three pointers and they closed out the day by beating Baldwin again for a record of 2-4 for the 10 minute quarter games. 1/24 Walkerville Away 5:00 On Monday 1/24/05 the 7th grade basketball team traveled down to Walkerville to take on the Wildcats and the game was a wild one as the cats pulled out a 30-31 win over our young boys. Pacing the young Portagers tonight was Gus Lagerquist with 13 points, Chase Callaway added 10, Thomas Koon 4, Jake Matthews 2 and Joe Kosiboski 1
1/26 Frankfort Home 5 On Wednesday 1/26/05 the Frankfort Panthers came to the OHS gym to take on the 7th graders. Frankfort Panthers clawed their way to a 33-44 victory over our young Portagers. Leading the attack for the Portagers tonight was Chase Callaway as he swished in 15 points, Gus Lagerquist connected for 6, Danny Brown & Joe Kosiboski each had 4, Jake Matthews swished a 3 for 3 points. Jonathon Nesburg stepped to the free throw line late in the game and calmly sank 2 three throws for 2 points, and Thomas Koon added 1. The Portagers next action will be on Saturday when they play in the WMD North Tournament at Onekama.

Portagers v Bobcats

The 7th grade Portagers took on county rival the Brethren Bobcats. After 1 quarter Onekama was behind by a score 6-7 and then at the half Brethren was ahead by a score of 10-17. In the 2nd half the Bobcats kept our Portagers at bay winning by a score of 31-41. Leading our Portagers today in scoring was Gus Lagerquist with 9 points, Joe Kosiboski netted 8, Jake Matthews connected for 5, Chase Callaway and Thomas Koon each added 4 and Dan Gillespie 1 point. 2/05 Tournament Play:
Cardinals v Portagers
The Cardinals kept the pace up in the second half and our Portagers lost by a score 19-38. Leading the young Portagers attack was Gus Lagerquist with 9, Thomas Koon netted 4, and Chase Callaway, Jonathon Nesburg and Dan Gillespie all added 2 points each. (photos)
