Cross Country Off to a Running Start!
By Zac Gilbert

The Onekama Middle School Cross Country season started on August 23 when the Onekama-Bear Lake team ran against Benzie Central at the Benzie Central School. It has been a strong season for our teams, and there have even been some records broken by Scott McKeel.

The team is made up students from Onekama and Bear Lake School. The coach for the girls and the boys team is Mrs. Harthun.

Scott McKeel started running one and a half years ago. Scott broke the two-mile run record at MCE with 11 minutes 50 seconds on October 1, 2003. He also broke the record at Bear Lake at 12 minutes 30 seconds on September 17. His favorite thing about running is winning and just being on the team.

CONGRATULATION MIDDLE SCHOOL ON YOUR CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP AND COACH AMANDA HARTHUN. Their successful middle school season is now over.
