9/8	MCE at Onekama	In the 8th grade game the young Portagers lost to the MCE by a score of 34 to 21 the game was much closer than the final score as the Portagers were ahead at halftime. Alyssa Cole tossed in 8 points follwed by Kelsey Acker with 7 Courtney Griswold with 4 and Carmen Hayes with 2 points. They are coached by Mr. Duane Keith. Photographs
9/10	Brethren Away	The 7th & 8th grade games schedule last Wednesday 9/10/03 against Brethren at Brethren were cancelled until a later date.
9/15	Walkerville Home	Monday the 8th graders played the Walkerville Wildcats at home in a low scoring game. The Young Lady Portagers even their season record at 1-1 with a 15 to 6 win over the Cats. Leading the Young Portagers was Kelsey Acker & Megan Cronkite with 4 point each. Alyssa Cole added 3 and Kieran Oconnor and Courtney Griswald tossed in 2 points each.
9/17	Pentwater Home	The 8th graders on 9/17/03 took on the Pentwater Falcons at home and lost by a score of 13 to 15 to Falcons and there record went to 1-2 Leading scorers were Kelsey Acker and Alyssa Cole with 6 points each and Carmen Hayes had the one point
9/22	Freesoil	?
9/24	Bear Lake Away	In the game at Bear Lake, the 8th grade played one half and the 7th grade the other as Bear Lake didn't have enough players for 2 full games the OHS Lady Portagers won by a score of 25 to 22.
9/29	Baldwin Home	On Monday the Lady Portagers took on the Baldwin Panthers at home and lost by a score of 18 to 29 to the Panthers and there season record dropped to 1-3 Tossing in 6 points was Kelsey Acker adding 5 points was Kiern O'Connor, Courtney Griswold 4 and Carmen Howard with 2 and Megan Cronkite added 1 point
10/1	Brethren Home	The 8th grade took on the Brethren Bobcats at home and lost a very close game 19 to 18 in which the ball just wouldn't fall through the hoop for them. Courtney Griswold led the young Portagers with 8 points followed by Kelsey Acker & Kieran O'Connor with 5 point each.
10/6	MCE at MCE	On the 10/08/03 the 8th graders traveled to MCE and got beat by the Cardinals by the score 33 to 24 Courtney Griswold scorched the nets for 16 point Alyssa Cole chipped in with 4 and Kelsey Acker & Kieran O'Connor added 2 each.
10/13	Brethren	On the 10/13/03 the 8th graders again took on the Brethren Bobcats at home in another wild, long, and very close basketball game. They again came up just a little short losing by the score of 27 to 22 in a game that was tied at 8 each at the halftime. Alyssa Cole led the scoring with 8, Kelsey Acker tossed in 7 , Kieran O'Connor added 2 and Carmen Hayes, Sarah Eipperle and Carmen Howard all had 1 point and some young portager had the other 2 points.
10/15	Tournament	For the 8th graders on 10/15/03 they traveled to Bear Lake to play in the WMD tournament and lost to the Lakers by a score of 22 to 31 Leading the Portagers in scoring was Courtney Griswold with 7 points. Kelsey Acker tossed in 5, Alyssa Cole added 4, Cronkite netted 3, Kieran O'Connor added 2, and Carmen Howard 1.
10/18	Tournament	On Saturday 10/18/03 the Portages were back at Bear Lake to play in the consolation game and came away with a 2 point victory over the Brethren Bobcats to take third place in the WMD tournament. Courtney Griswold led the scoring attack with 14 points and Kieran O'Connor and Alyssa cole added 8 each. Kelsey Acker netted 4 and Carmen Howard tossed in 2 points for the young Lady Portagers.
10/20	Frankfort at Frankfort	On 10/20/03 The 8th graders traveled up the road and lost to the Frankfort Panthers. Alyssa Cole lead the team in scoring tonight with 7 points. Kelsey Ackers chipped in with 6 points. Courtney Griswold added 3 and Carmen Howard 2 points. Photographs Oct. 22
10/22	Manistee at home	On 10/22/03 the 8th graders took on the Manistee Chippewa's at home and led at halftime by a score of 11 to 6 but in the 2nd half the young lady Chips found the net and came back and beat our lady Portagers by a score of 15 to 19 . Chipping in with 4 points each were Alyssa Cole and Carmen Howard. Tossing 3 points was Courtney Griswold. Carmen Hayes and Kieran O'Connor added 2 each. Their Final game of the season will be next Monday 10/27/03 against the Sabers of MCC at the MCC gym. Dennis
