They played their first game of the season on Monday, traveling over to Brethren to take on county rival the Bobcats from Brethren. At halftime they trailed by a score of 8 to 17 and ended up losing by a score of 26 to 34 to the Bobcats. Leading the young Portagers in scoring were Levi Capper & Ryan Miller with 8 points each, Travis Schram & Ryan Cederholm added 4 points each and Zac Gilbert netted 2 points. Their next game is Wednesday 12 /17/03 when they take on their other county rival, the Bear Lake Lakers at home at 5:00 p.m.

The 7th grade Boys Basketball team for the 2003 -04 is coached by Mr. John Burtch and team members are Drew Griswold, Levi Capper, Travis Schram, Zac Gilbert, Ryan Miller, Aaron Fisher, Ryan Cederholm, Lucas Porter, Jake Garwood, Andrew Cabot and Ryan Trackwell.

12/17 Bear Lake at Home

Lost 16-41

The 7th grade boys took on there county rival Bear Lake at home and at the half trailed by a score of 7 to 22 and the Lakers never looked back as they beat our young Portagers by a score of 16 to 41. It was their 2nd lost of the young season. Leading the Portagers in scoring was Aaron Fisher and Ryan Cederholm wih 4 points each, Levi Capper added 3 points, and Zac Gilbert and Ryan Miller netted 2 point each and Travis Schram got 1 point The 7th grade is off until 1/07/04 a Wednesday when they play MCE away. 1/07 At Mason County E.

Won 37-17

The 7th graders traveled to MCE to take on the Cardinals. It was a close first half with OHS boys leading by a score of 14 to 13. The young Portagers came out on fire in the 2nd half and rolled over the Cardinals by a score 37-17 to get their 1st win of the season as their season record is now 1-2. Leading the way for the young Portagers were Aaron Fisher with 15 points , Ryan Miller tossed in 9 points Levi Capper added 8, Zach Gilbert & Travis Schram 2 each, Lucas Porter 1. Their next game is Monday at Bear Lake.
1/12 at Bear Lake The 7th grade went to Bear Lake and took on the Lakers at the half they trailed by a score of 12 - 29 and Bear Lake came out strong in the second half and beat the Portagers by a score of 18 - 49 Leading the Portagers in scoring was Ryan Miller with 6, Ryan Cederholm 4, Aaron Fisher 3, and Drew Griswold and Levi Capper added 2 each. and their season record is 1-3
1/14 Brethren at home On Wednesday 1/14/04 home against Brethren was cancelled
1/15 Frankfort On Thursday 1/15/04 they went to Frankfort and got beat by the Panthers. Their season record is now 1-4
1/19 MCE at home MCE was cancelled due to the weather and no make up date is set.
1/21 Baldwin at Home Cancelled due to the weather and no make up date is set
1/24 WMD at MCE On Saturday the 7th grade went to MCE to play Bear Lake in the NORTH WMD Tournament. At the half they trailed by a score of 7 to 30 and ended up losing by a score of 14 to 50 Leading in scoring was Travis Schram with 7, Aaron Fisher 4 and Ryan Trackwell added 3 the young Portagers will take on MCE at 10: 00 a.m. next Saturday 1/31/04 in the consolation game.
1/26 Mesick at home 5:00 p.m. On 1/26/04 the 7th grade played the Mesick Bulldogs at home. In a very slow start the Portagers lead by a score 2 to 1 after one quarter. By the half the Portagers were behind by a score of 7 to 9. But in the second half the ball started to fall through the hoop and the Portagers lost by a score of 27 to 35 to the Mesick Bulldogs. Leading the young Portagers in scoring was Levi Capper with 9, Zacharry Gilbert added 6,Travis Schram 5, Aaron Fisher 4, Drew Griswold 2, and Ryan Cederholm 1. Their season record now is 1-6.
1/28 at Brethren 5:00 p.m. Cancelled due to the weather
1/31 WMD at MCE The 7th grade traveled to MCE to take on MCE in the consolation game of the North WMD league tournament and lost to the Cardinals by a score of 20 - 39 and saw there season record drop to 1-7. Brethren and Bear Lake played in the championship game don't have a score.
2/2 MCE at home The MCE Cardinals 7th grade came to the OHS gym to take on our young Portagers. The Portagers got off to a slow start and were down at the end of the 1st quarter by a score of 6- 15. They came back in the 2nd quarter to tie the score at 20 - 20, but in the final quarter couldn't get a basket to fall and lost by a score of 34 - 35.
Leading the Portagers was Aaron Fisher with 11, Ryan Milller added 10, Drew Griswold and Levi Capper each netted 4 each, Zachary Gilbert 3 and Travis Schram had 2 points. Season record dropped to 1-8
2/4 MCC at home The 7th grade MCC Sabers came to Onekama to take on the Portagers in their final game of the season. At the half the young Portagers were behind by a score of 9-15. They were only down by a score of 13 to 19 going into the final quarter, but then the Sabers couldn't miss and the Portagers lost by a score of 17 to 37 to end the season on a losing note with a season record of 1-9.
Congratulations to these young boys and Coach John Burtch for there hard work during the season.
