Painting Trash Cans for the Fair

Chelsea and Alexi worked to complete the trash cans before the fair.

Freedom to do Community Service
Chelsea M.

We are lucky to have the right of community service. Why? Some countries like Iraq are not able to do things like community service or else they will get punished severely. Women in Iraq have to wear veils over their faces and walk ten steps behind the men. We, unlike them, live in America and have the freedom in which we have the right to do community service. In our community we have done many projects. Some examples are the beach sweep, helping the garden club, painting Onekama School’s concession stand, washing fire trucks, deck washing the ark at the Trinity Lutheran church, painting birdhouses, and painting barrels for the Manistee County fair at the Onekama fairgrounds. I am glad I am able to improve my community and to help out in any ways I can!!

Freedom to Help
Aaron F.

In some places you cannot help the community. But in the United States of America you can help out. For example: you don’t get to wash fire trucks in different countries. You may not be able to say any thing you want in different countries but in the United States of America you can. For example: if you say something bad and mean and rude you could go to jail or prison but in America you would not. In America you have the right to do a lot of stuff to help the community. And when you help the community you make other people happy and you make your self happy about what you did and how you helped the community.

I had a great time helping out the community, and being in the community kid’s club. It was a blast going and making the community a better place for everyone. I think the ark at Trinity church was one of the best things we did so far. I was really happy when I heard that community kid’s was supporting the relay for life. I thought that washing the fire trucks was really cool too. I made a full list of things we the community kid’s have done, we first went to Norwalk and Trinity church’s, we walked in the relay for life for a straight hour, third we washed Onekama’s fire trucks, we also get a award for 50 or 100 hours.
