Costa Rica: INBio |
Hi,
my name is Robyn. I was part of the middle school Costa Rica trip. On
the second day I was in Costa Rica I went to INBio Parque. While we were
there we saw a lot of different animals. For example we saw caiman,
iguanas, a sloth, ducks, fish, frogs, butterflies, spiders, and snakes.
I really liked the snake and the butterfly garden. They took the snake,
a boa constrictor, out of its cage so we could touch it. It felt cool
and smooth. The butterflies were in an enclosed garden. They were very
colorful. My favorite was the blue morph, it was a metallic blue color
when its wings were open. We saw many interesting plants, such as a
heliconia and a welthia.
Before we started the guided tour we saw a movie about how Costa
Rica was formed three million years ago by volcanoes. The movie also
talked about how the rain forest is being cut down. Already two-thirds
of the rainforest has been destroyed. The movie also talked about the
biodiversity research being done through out the country. At the end of
the tour we saw a slide show of he many national parks in Costa Rica.
INBio Parque has two rain forest types, a wet rain forest and a
dry rain forest. But in both of the habitats we saw a wide variety of
plants & animals. When we were done with the tour we had lunch and
went to the gift shop. Overall the INBio Parque is very interesting
place. I hope the people next year can go to INB Parque. INBio Caiman Maeve listens to the guide on the INBio tour March 2004 |
