Community Kids:
A Super Helpful Summer Program

< The Community Kids Club poses with the Portage Lake Garden Club. Every Thursday all summer the CKC met with the Garden Club to weed an area in town. Community Kids meets weekdays from 8-11. It is free and open to kids entering 6th-9th grades. This summer we have 9 members. (These kids are super- they are all such hard workers and fun to be around.)

This summer the Community Kids were able to roller blade in the county parades for the Manistee County Humane Society.

Miss S, Ray, and Victoria label fire alarm batteries to keep the ship up to code.

CKC members paint a stork sculpture for the Community Children's Garden.

Ray takes a break from all the hard scrubbing!

Katie weeds by the fountain at the Onekama Park with a member of the Portage Lake Garden Club.

Katie and Abra swept the floor in the walk-in cooler aboard the S.S. City of Milwaukee. Sweeping wasn't enough to remove 70 years worth of dust and dirt, so later they vacuumed the fridge floor!

Victoria scrapes the ship stove down before an inspection by the Health Department.

Victoria dusts the skylight in the passengers dining hall aboard the S.S. City of Milwaukee.

Ray works hard to remove 70 years of grease.

Chelsea hangs a poster she designed on the computer in Manistee to promote the Humane Society's Annual Family Pet

The CKC traveled to Manistee on Fridays this summer to help with the restoration of the Milwaukee. The boat is WAY too big to fit in a picture, but here is the club gathered by the entrance.
