And Ribbon Cutting Ceremony -
Sunday, April
11, 2010
The
community pride showed in Onekama on a sunny Sunday
afternoon when the community took its first look at
school renovations made possible by a $14.1 million
bond issue. Onekama students moved into the new
facilities four days ago.
The new area of the school includes a gymnasium that
can be divided into two full-size practice courts;
technology in classrooms that includes smart boards,
document cameras, projection systems, internet,
cable television, and dvd players; wireless internet
throughout the school; a new kitchen which will be
able to serve more fresh food and items from the
farm-to-school program; a cafetorium with stadium
seating for 300, rear screen projection,
state-of-the-art lighting and sound; a band room;
art room with a computer graphics system; and a
computer lab for special education.
Improvements also included a computerized
heating/ventilation system for the entire building;
security cameras for the entire building; an
upgraded public address system; and a motion
detection lighting system for the entire facility.
