WALKERVILLE — The Division 4
No. 1-ranked Bear Lake girls and No. 6 Laker
boys swept the third West Michigan D League
jamboree of the season on Wednesday at
Walkerville.“Today
we were looking for kind of a consistency — hold
the pace that was not so easy that it’s
conversational, but not so hard that they’re
completely gassed when they’re done,” Bear Lake
coach Tony Shrum said of the five-mile workout.
“They ran a mile warm-up, finished the warm-up,
spiked up, started the race, and as soon as they
finished, they got together and ran a mile right
after.”
The Bear Lake boys
finished first with 19 points, followed by Mason
County Eastern (75), Crossroads Charter Academy
(83), Walkerville (94), Pentwater (95) and
Brethren (148).
