CUSTER — Onekama swept a pair of softball games from Mason County Eastern, the reigning West Michigan D League champion, on Thursday.
The Portagers (8-3, 7-2 WMD) won the opener 4-2 and took the nightcap 7-5.
“It was a good way for us to come back from a not-so-good outing against Brethren,” Onekama coach Rob Johnson said of a sweep his team suffered last week. “All-around, it was a good day.”
Emily Bergren recorded wins in each contest, allowing eight hits and two walks with three strikeouts in the opener, and five hits, one walk with two strikeouts in four innings of the nightcap.
