PENTWATER — The Onekama
softball team stayed unbeaten with a West Michigan D League sweep
against Pentwater on Thursday, April 25.
The Portagers (5-0, 5-0 WMD) won the opener 23-0 and the
second game 15-0 with both called after three innings due to the mercy
rule.
Emily Bergren picked up both wins for Onekama. She was a
walk away from a perfect outing in the opener with no hits and nine
strikeouts, then allowed two hits while striking out eight in the second
game.
“That was pretty impressive,” said Onekama
coach Rob Johnson. “Emily is pitching strong.” |
Onekama had 44 hits in the series, starting with 27 in
the opener.
Kaylor DeWitt went 4-for-4 with two doubles, Hailey Kott
had four hits, Emily and Elizabeth Bergren had three apiece and Alyssan
Clarke two.
Emily Bergren went 3-for-3 with a triple in the second
game, Elizabeth Bergren had two triples and Brittany Humes a pair of
doubles.
“We’re kind of gearing up for Frankfort (today),” Johnson
said. “That will be our big measuring stick.”
