Hobart medals to pace Portagers

ONEKAMA — Derek Hobart earned match medalist honors with a 38 Thursday, which paced the Portagers to second place in the tri-meet they hosted at the Heathlands Golf Course.

Onekama tallied a 209 team score to edge Frankfort (217) while Manton won the event with a 193 on the front nine.

“It’s an improvement from last time,” said Portagers coach Tom McCraner, citing the team’s 211 in last week’s opener. “Things are looking up.”

Hobart was followed by teammates Brandon Bohannon (51) and Parker Sternberger (54), while one of two 66s carded by Jack Coryell and Trever Fink were counted for the team score.
