OCS Girls Basketball Clinic is on a Roll

For six Saturdays this winter, Onekama Elementary School girls have been busy “hooping it up.”  The girls are participating in a Winter Girls Basketball Clinic in the school gymnasium.

The children meet in two groups: First through Fourth graders, and Fifth and Sixth graders.  The clinic is run by volunteer coaches Dennis McCarthy and Heidi Wisniski. The goals of the clinic are to introduce and reinforce the fundamentals of the game, and to keep students active during the winter months.

During halftime of two Onekama High School junior varsity basketball games, the girls get the opportunity to display what they have learned in exhibition scrimmage games. (The girls play again Thursday Feb. 7 at JV half-time)

The girls performed at half-time of the JV game.
