December 19, 2012 -In a battle of unbeaten teams from the West
Michigan D League, Onekama suffered its first loss of the year in a
51-37 defeat at the hands of Big Rapids Crossroads on Wednesday.
The Portagers (4-1, 3-1 WMD) had to play catch up all
night long, but the Cougars (6-0, 4-0 WMD) were able to keep them at
bay.
“We just came out really flat to start, and battled back
a bit, but every time we’d get close, it seemed like Crossroads would
get another bucket or two,” said Onekama coach Nathan Bradford. “We
didn’t quit, but tonight just wasn’t our night.”
The Portagers were led by Alexis Tribfelner with 14
points while Hailey Kott scored 11 to go with five steals. Kayla
Kosiboski led the team on the boards with seven.
