Portagers Lose to Hart
Onekama was on the
wrong side of a 55-0 contest Friday, August 24, as they dropped their
season opener.
The Hart Pirates
got on the board early and often with four scores in the first quarter
and four more in the second. With a running clock in the second
half, the Portagers buckled down on defense and allowed just one more
score for Hart.
Onekama had a
couple trips to the red zone, but were unable to light up the
scoreboard. |
Unfortunately,
there's a lot of areas we have to work on," said Coach Jim Hunter after
the lopsided loss. "We're just not physical enough yet. When we take on
an offense like they have, the guys up front have to get down and get
under, with kids flying in there to fill.
"We're playing a lot
of young kids, and many of our upperclassmen are playing for the first
time," he added. "For a young group, Hrt had a tough offense to read,
and they ran it really well."
The loss marks
the third straight year the Portagers have lost to Hart at the start of
the season. |
