CARSON CITY — The Bear Lake girls cross country team took
first place while the boys finished eighth at the Carson City Crystal
Invitational on Saturday.
The girls finished with 84 points to win the the Division
4 race, edging runner-up Traverse City St. Francis (92) and Beal City
(108).
“It was a great day for the girls,” said Bear Lake coach
Tony Shrum. “That’s a big meet for Division 4 so for them to win it is
pretty impressive.”
“One of our big competitors at the regional is St.
Francis, so we had a good chance to race against them and a good chance
to race against a few of the teams that are ranked in the top 10 of the
state on both sides,” Shrum said. “The boys finished eighth, but pretty
much every team that finished ahead of them is ranked in the top 10 or
an honorable mention.”
The Bear Lake girls are ranked No. 3 in Division 4 while
the boys are ninth.

of the season.”
