Portagers split with Falcons
PENTWATER — Onekama split its West Michigan D League
doubleheader with Pentwater Thursday, April 25, falling 4-2 in the
opener before bouncing back with a 6-4 victory in the nightcap.
Despite a solid performance on the mound, the Portagers’
Joe Eno took the loss in the opener, finishing with seven strikeouts in
five innings.
“It was a classic pitcher’s duel,” Onekama coach John
Neph said. “As soon as we made an error, they got a couple hits to
follow.” |
In the nightcap, Onekama rallied off five runs in the
bottom of the fifth to come back from a 4-1 deficit and salvage a series
split.
Dallas Hearit, who pitched a complete game for the
Portagers, was the winning pitcher while Curtis McKenney knocked a
double and Eno a single to lead the offense.
“It was very good to get a split coming out of
Pentwater,” Neph said. “They’re a good baseball team.”
