HART — Onekama’s Derek Hobart earned match medalist honors in the season’s first West Michigan D League jamboree Tuesday at The Colonial Golf Club in Hart.

Hobart shot a one-over-par 37 on the front nine as his Portagers finished third of five teams with a 188. Jamboree host Pentwater won the event with a 173 while Brethren (182) was second, Mason County Eastern (208) fourth and Manistee Catholic Central (225) fifth.

“He had all aspects of the game working well tonight,” Onekama coach Mary Jo Zadow said of Hobart. Onekama’s Alex Welch shot a 45 while teammates Elizabeth Bergren (51) and Alexis Tribfelner (55) shot personal bests to round out the scoring.

Brethren was paced to second place by Colton Podbilski’s 43 on the day while teammates Bryson Waller (45), Alex Ringel (46) and Dan Kasarskis (48) rounded out the Bobcats’ scoring.

“I was pleased with our score for the first match of the season,” said Brethren coach Tom Anderson. “Colton’s 43 was a nice early score, and I was impressed with Bryson playing through some sickness to shoot a 45.

“In general, I was pleased. For the first time out, it gives us something to build on.”
