Portagers fall short
LAKE LEELANAU — The Onekama softball team fell short in a
pair of games to Lake Leelanau St. Mary Tuesday, losing the opener 8-3
and the nightcap 12-7.
“We just seemed flat again and came out slow,” said Portagers coach Phil
Sedelmaier. “They did improve the second game. I thought they played
better, but four errors did not help us at all.” |
The Eagles notched a game one victory
by breaking a 3-3 tie with a five-run fifth inning.
Onekama pitcher Emily Bergren allowed
nine hits with three strikeouts in the opener while leading the team at
the plate, batting 2-for-3 with a triple. The Portagers’ Jennica Mathieu
had a double with an RBI, Nicole Slater had a hit and an RBI and Brooke
Sedelmaier had a hit.
In the nightcap, Bergren allowed nine hits with seven strikeouts for the
Portagers (7-16) while Slater and Carly Clark each had two hits
including a double and an RBI. Sedelmaier had a hit with a pair of RBIs. |
