Portagers fall to MCE

CUSTER — Mason County Eastern remained undefeated on the
season Friday in a 45-26 West Michigan D League win over Onekama.
The Portagers struggled to score against the tough Cardinal defense.

The Cardinals (9-0, 7-0 WMD) jumped on
the Portagers in the first quarter, taking a 14-5 lead into the second.
Onekama had to play catch up the rest of the way.
“We started in a hole,” Bradford said. “But the girls never quit. They
played hard.”
Onekama (3-4, 3-3 WMD) was led by Taylor Hagen with 10 points, five
rebounds and two blocks while teammates Lindsay Nesburg scored five with
two rebounds, Jennica Mathieu and Nicole Slater each scored four while
grabbing four boards, Kelly Koon had two with two rebounds and four
assists and Danielle Ward added one point and two rebounds. |
