Onekama @ Bear Lake – Game 8

We headed into this game coming off the best game of the season.  We had high hopes to continue on our previous success, travelling into Bear Lake for another inner-county rivalry.  Unfortunately for us, this game looked very similar to our first match-up.  The Lakers made several shots and took advantage of fast break opportunities to pull away for a 47-21 win.

Our offensive output wasn’t as productive as I hoped.  Kaitlin had a strong performance leading the team with 9 points.  Nisha followed scoring 5 points and Sami came off the bench and finished third with 4 points.  Kaylan, Elizabeth and Sierra Hull each finished with a point.  Most of our baskets came from jump shots or free throws.

Defensively, Sierra Hull owned the boards with 11 rebounds.  Kaitlin and Elizabeth joined in with 6 rebounds each and an assist each.  Kaylan and Faith each grabbed 3 rebounds and Sami finished with 2 boards and an assist.  Nisha added 2 assists and Sierra Warner had a blocked shot.  Our efforts still weren’t enough to hold off the offensive power of the Lakers.

We came into this game with high energy and excitement, but after tipoff the ball didn’t go in our favor.  The Portagers will travel to Big Rapids on the 20th for another conference rematch.

Go Portagers!
