Onekama @ Brethren
– Game 7
We headed to
Brethren for this match-up which is always a good rivalry game.
Brethren came to Onekama for an added contest earlier in the season and
went home with the win so we were definitely excited for the rematch.
We came into
the game like a well oiled machine. Our offense was firing on all
cylinders as we jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. By
the end of the first quarter we held a 5 point lead. By the half we
increased our lead to 11 with a score of 19-8. The third quarter was
quite a defensive stand for us only allowing the Bobcats to score a
field goal and increasing our lead to 19 points. All our hard work paid
off with a victory and the final score of 37-15.
Our offense
was led in a tag team fashion with Sierra Hull and Elizabeth each
scoring 10 points. Kaitlin was right behind them finishing with 7
points and Nisha was next with 5 points. Sami pitched in an additional
4 points while Faith topped off the scoring with 1 point. |
Defensively this was probably our best game of the season. Sierra Hull
led the way defensively with 8 rebounds, 2 blocks and a steal. Kaylan
was next with 5 rebounds and 2 steals. Sami came in and played big
adding 4 rebounds to her yearly total. Kaitlin pulled down 3 rebounds
and added 3 steals to her game. Faith and Elizabeth each grabbed 2
rebounds and Elizabeth added 2 blocks and a team leading 4 steals to her
game. Sierra Warner finished with 2 blocks and Nisha finished with 3
steals.
It was great
to see the girls play to their potential as a team and they worked hard
through the whole game for the win. The JV’s play at Big Rapids for
their next contest and look to split their season match-up with a win.
Go Portagers!
