Onekama @ Manistee
Catholic Game 11 - February 10, 2011
The Lady
Portagers traveled to Manistee Catholic to take on the Sabers for the
second time of the season. The Sabers came out with the victory in the
first contest so we were anxious for the rematch.
The players
were full of energy and excitement. We worked hard but found trouble
getting the ball through the hoop. Not enough boxing out would be the
other major factor in the outcome of this contest. The Sabers came out
with a steady attack and never looked back as they pulled away with the
win by a score of 47-21.
Elizabeth
led the offense with 7 points. Nisha and Faith were next with 4 points
each. Kaitlin, Sierra and Sami finished out the scoring with 2 points
each. We had several good shot opportunities but were unable to take
advantage of some of them.

Elizabeth
stood out on the defensive side also pulling down 9 rebounds and taking
the ball away from the Sabers twice. Sierra Hull was next in rebounding
with 5 while Kaylan, Kaitlin, and Sami all finished with 4 boards
apiece. Kaylan and Kaitlin each added a block and Kaitlin also had a
steal. Faith finished with 2 rebounds and Sierra Warner had a block.
It seems
like we continue to fight an uphill battle, but the team continues to
push on with a positive attitude and hard work ethic. We have a long
break before hosting the Lady Bobcats on February 17, 2011. We will
continue to work and practice hard for the next contest. Hope to see
you there for Parent’s Night.
Go Portagers!
