Portagers fall short against
Falcons
PENTWATER — The Onekama girls basketball
team couldn’t overcome early offensive woes in a 44-35 West Michigan
D League loss to Pentwater on Thursday.
The Portagers (8-7, 7-6 WMD) went nearly the entire first quarter
without scoring, and although they closed the gap late, couldn’t
make a final push.

“It took us forever to get going,” Onekama
coach Nathan Bradford said of the six-point first quarter. “We got close
but never got over the hump.”
Taylor Hagen and Jennica Mathieu each scored nine points to lead the
Portagers, Lindsay Nesburg had seven, Danielle Ward six and Nicole
Slater scored four to go with five rebounds and four steals.
