Portagers pull away to complete sweep of Bobcats

ONEKAMA — The Onekama girls basketball team completed a West Michigan D League season sweep against Brethren with a 55-46 win Thursday.

Taylor Hagen had 22 points, seven rebounds and six steals to lead the Portagers (9-8, 8-7 WMD) while Jennica Mathieu had 15 points and 10 rebounds.
 Also for Onekama, Danielle Ward had five points and 13 rebounds, Lindsay Nesburg and Nicole Slater scored five apiece and Kelly Koon had three.

Brethren (8-10, 6-9 WMD) held a 7-6 lead after the first quarter before the Portagers started finding the bottom of the net and took a 23-21 lead at the end of the half. "We started a little slow... but got rolling in the second quarter," said Onekama coach Nathan Bradford. "I thought everyone did a good job moving the ball around."

Annie MacNeil led Brethren with 10 rebounds and seven blocks.
