Onekama vs. Brethren
Game 12
February 17, 2011

The Lady Portagers hosted the Lady Bobcats in a third contest of the season.  The Bobcats won the first contest and we won the second so this one was expected to be a good match-up.

The game proved to be a low scoring affair and again we found ourselves taking good shots but not being able to make the ball go in the hoop.  This game would end as our lowest scoring contest of the season and almost appeared as though we wouldn’t reach double digits.  The Bobcats were able to find the hoop steadily through the quarters and pulled ahead to win 26-10.  Looking at the score it doesn’t appear that we put up a good defensive stand, but that wasn’t the case at all.  The girls played hard at both ends but when you can’t score even a great defense will fall.

Faith was all over the boards and pulled down 8 rebounds.  She also finished with an assist and a steal.  Sami was close behind with 7 rebounds and tied for a game high 4 steals.  Kaitlin pulled down 5 rebounds and had a steal while Kaylan finished with 3 rebounds and 2 steals.  Nisha finished with a rebound and 4 steals, and Sierra Warner grabbed a board and had a steal.

Nisha and Sami led the Portagers in scoring with 4 points each.  Faith was the only other player to score and finished with 2 points.

This was obviously not the way we expected things to turn out, but we also went into the contest down two sophomore players.  We had opportunities but couldn’t make the best of them.  We look to a better performance as we host the Lady Cardinals on February 24, 2011, for our last contest of the season.  Come out and support the girls as they prepare for District play.
