Onekama vs. Bear Lake – Game 1

December 3, 2010

The Lady Portagers opened the season hosting their inner county rival the Bear Lake Lakers.  The first game in the new gym and the home opener gave the players and coach a bit of a nervous feeling heading into the game.

The Portagers played hard through the entire contest, but in the end turnovers and difficulty scoring would be the major factors in the hard fought loss.  On the other side the Lakers took advantage of some outside scoring opportunities and jumped to an early lead and continued to roll on to the win.

Offensively, Kaylan led the team in scoring with 6 points.  Sierra Hull was next with 5 points and Faith finished with 4 points.  Nisha and Elizabeth closed out the scoring with 2 points each.

Defensively, Sierra Hull led the Portagers with 10 rebounds, 1 block and 1 steal.  Nisha followed with 7 rebounds and 2 steals while Elizabeth finished with 6 rebounds, 3 blocks and 3 steals.  Faith finished with 5 rebounds and Kaylan ended with 4 boards and 4 blocks.  Sierra Warner added 3 rebounds and Kaitlin finished with 2 rebounds and a steal.

The team will continue to work hard and look to improve on keys areas for success.  With one game under our belts we look forward to building on the good points and getting a win.

The Lady Portagers will host Big Rapids Crossroads on Wednesday, December 8th for the second game of the season.

Go Portagers!
