ONEKAMA — Onekama hit the floor
running and never looked back Wednesday night in a 56-15 West Michigan D
League victory over Baldwin.
After a 24-3 first-quarter lead and 38-5 mark at the break over the
Panthers (0-5, 0-4 WMD), the Portagers (3-1, 3-1 WMD) were able to put
it in cruise control the second half. |
“We talked about coming out of the
gate and starting strong,” Onekama coach Nathan Bradford said. “And
that’s what we did. We did a lot of good things, especially with boxing
out and rebounding.”
Onekama’s Danielle Ward led the way with 17 points while teammates
Lindsay Nesburg scored 10, Taylor Hagen nine, Jennica Mathieu seven,
Nicole Slater six, Ashley Derooy four and Kelly Koon three. Ward also
led the team on the boards with 11 rebounds to go along with four steals
while Mathieu grabbed eight rebounds, Koon grabbed six with a team-high
eight assists, Nesburg had six rebounds and Slater snagged five steals. |
