jamboree at MCE

CUSTER — The Bear Lake cross
country team remained unbeaten in the West Michigan D League as both
the boys and girls won a jamboree on Wednesday at Mason County
Eastern.
“They did really well,” said Bear Lake coach Eric Ross, noting that
eight boys and four girls set personal records. “They all ran a good
race.”
Bear Lake, which co-ops with Onekama, won the boys race with 33
points, ahead of runner-up MCE (45) and third place Big Rapids
Crossroads Charter Academy (67).

Bear Lake’s Tyler Groenwald took
second place overall in 17:50, followed by teammates John Girven (sixth,
18:44), Alex Ringel (seventh, 18:56), Lewis Bartlett (eighth, 18:57),
Stephen Verrett (10th, 19:05), Ryan Pienta (13th, 19:34) and Kyle
Nettler (18th, 20:39). The Bear Lake girls took first with 26 points,
MCE was second (37) and Walkerville third (90)
Bear Lake's Jaylee Brown took first
place in 20:22, followed by teammates Tobi Schoedel (second, 20:55),
Yumi Babinec (sixth, 22:54), Tristen Gleason (eighth, 24:02, Kelly
Babcock (ninth, 24:45) and Taylor Anderson (11th, 25:55).
Running junior varsity for Bear Lake was Reilly Merrill (20th, 21:05),
John Schoedel (21st, 21:06), Seth Harrington (22nd, 21:46), Bradon
Bowling (24th, 22:05), Shane Peterson (26th, 22:51), Justin Brown (31st,
23:43) and Bryson Waller (32nd, 24:20).
“As hard as they worked this week, they did a really good job,” Ross
said. “Hopefully it’s showing their work paid off.” |
