Graduation Ceremony 2011

“This last year, for me, was probably the hardest, but it was also the best because the Class of 2011 really became a family,” said co-valedictorian Lauren Pokorzynski as she addressed her class. “We all came together to make this year one of the most memorable. It will be nice leaving Onekama today knowing I can call each and every one of you my friend.”

“Just as one body has many parts, our family has many members,” said co-valedictorian Robert Myers. “Each member has a different and unique personality. Together these personalities made us whole. Take one out, and something is missing. (Suchaya Sunantakarnkij) was the final piece to our puzzle, she was the last one to come to us, and for that I know we will always be grateful to the foreign exchange program because we all like (Suchaya). The addition of (Suchaya) and the spirit of our senior year made us whole. Together we could accomplish anything we want. You guys are the best.”

Salutatorian Logan Place started his address by saying, “Hey, what’s up?” Then he asked his grandmother, who had traveled from Battle Creek, to stand.  “It also happens to be her birthday today. She’s, uh, 29.

“We’re all really original and I know we’re all going to work hard and never be too far from our dreams,” Place continued. “This class has some of the most sympathetic and caring people I’ve known. If any of you have one goal in life, let it be to treat others as well as you’ve treated me.”

Co-valedictorian Lauren Pokorzynski played a violin solo during the ceremony. She also performed in the high school band.
