ONEKAMA — The Onekama track and
field team held a dual meet at home Wednesday against Mesick with
the specific purpose of it serving as a warm-up for Saturday’s
Division 4 regional.
The warm weather made sure that wasn’t a problem.
The Portager boys beat Mesick, 92-39, while the shorthanded Onekama
girls lost, 79-52.“The
kids did well and accomplished both things,” Onekama boys coach
Mickey Story said of getting a solid workout and winning as well.

Bonnie Brown shuffled the lineup and had some of her distance runners
working on speed.
“It was worth it,” Brown said of the dual meet. “We haven’t had a warm
day and it was good for the kids to participate in that.”
